We’re building the “A Team”

You know how The Avengers is a group of superheroes who are pretty awesome individually, but absolutely unstoppable as a group? That’s what we’re aiming to build at Monkey Media; an unstoppable super group. So far we’ve gathered this awesome bunch, but there’s always room for more awesomeness.

Our business does more than one thing; along with publishing industry-leading magazine titles like Infrastructure, Energy, Utility and Pump Industry, we’re also a full-service marketing agency and run industry events.

And just as the business is multifaceted, our staff all do a little more than what a single job title can express. Our magazine editors also work on content for our marketing clients, our assistant editors write as well as manage advertising, and our sales team pitch in with some marketing ideas.

This means that along with no two days being the same, the opportunities for growth are huge.

What it’s like to work with us

Sure, we work hard, but we also know that a balance between work and life is the real secret behind great output. If you’re the kind of person who works best in a cafe for some deep thinking, that’s cool. If you need to take a walk around the block to clear your head, we’re fine with that.

If you’re someone who drinks vodka martinis for breakfast, no worries! Actually scrap that part – you’re probably not the right fit for us at all.

But – we do take our coffee seriously and have no interest in limiting the amount of caffeine that people can drink during the day. Our funky shared working space in the Commons in Collingwood includes an open-air garden, shipping container meeting rooms, an outdoor deck, ping pong table, wellness program and regular complimentary snacks, drinks and social events – plus plenty of coffee options!

We also encourage big ideas. We don’t know everything and we’re always learning, so if you’ve got an idea that could make our work better, we want to hear it. You need to get your own work done, but if in doing so you also have time to stretch your creativity, then we’re all for that.

We know that like the Spice Girls, the sum of the parts is greater than the individuals involved. But unlike the Spice Girls, we don’t have room for anyone to just stand in the background and lip sync the words, know what I mean?
We’re growing fast…

Fast 100 in fact! In 2018, Monkey Media made the Australian Financial Review’s Fast 100 list and we’re hoping to grow just as quickly for years to come. That means that the opportunities to start at the bottom and climb to the top have never been richer.

Our senior managers all started as journalists and worked their way up. If you’ve got what it takes to put a real spark in an article about an energy company, or design an ad for a pump that’s a work of art, or explain our products and services in way that has advertisers lining up, then we want to hear from you.

Here’s what we need

Editorial and Marketing

As part of our editorial team, you will write for our websites and magazines, as well as content for our clients. Through the quality content you write, you will essentially be at the core of what Monkey Media does – quality content for niche audiences. You need to be flexible in what you can write about and quick to get your head around technical detail. Regardless of whether you’re writing about concrete, pumps, solar panels or railroads, we need your words to shine.

Design

Our design team are nothing short of magicians! Taking some text and a couple of low res images from a document, you can make three full page ads, two web banners and a corporate brochure. Your day-to-day tasks will never be exactly the same and could have you changing between working on websites, laying out our print magazines, developing online documents or creating a re-branding for one of our clients. Exceptional technical know-how and an eye for design are vital plus a funky style is always appreciated.

Sales

We aren’t selling ice to eskimos here – our services genuinely help the businesses we partner with. Expert sales experience isn’t necessary, just the ability pick up the phone, form relationships and find the right solutions to clients’ problems.
